We experience the story through the Ian’s shattered mind. An Emergency Room Pediatrician, Dr Ian Chance, struggles to cope with a tragedy he causes by hitting a little girl while driving intoxicated. Ian deals with the tragedy by choosing to forget and then changes his memories. The girl is his daughter. It is hinted that this involved a young girl, as he clings to a worn photograph of a young girl through the story. The story cuts to show happier times with Ian and his daughter Emma doing normal things, but hints that something is not right. He makes a choice to blame and take revenge out on others. He builds a different memory that reflects in own mind. Revenge does not heal, but causes more pain and confusion. His mind becomes sick to the extreme and he begins a series of the ultimate crime.
