The Independent Features Film Festival was originally launched in 2007. It was covered by publications such as USA Today. At the time it was dubbed "The first film festival in which film selection is done online via a web-based competition." The innovation that Independent Features represented at the time was never forgotten. One decade later we are very excited to bring some of that innovation back in a new and exciting way. In particular we will work to open new doors to help emerging writers cut through the red tape to break into the industry. Either by pitching their project or even producing it with the guidance of industry professionals.
Our mission is to help emerging writers create award winning content that begins with the opportunities we work to create. This includes networking events, introductions to agents/managers, and opportunities to pitch your projects to industry influencers. In addittion to traditional methods, we help independent writers and filmmakers leverage options such as the JOBS Act. This allows entrepreneurs to use crowdfunding to offer an investment opportunity rather than a cheap perk. This levels the playing field for independent artists as it opens the door to attract established talent.
